GAITHERSBURG, MD (March 21, 2023) - SodexoMagic, the joint venture between Magic Johnson Enterprises and Sodexo, Inc., is proud to announce the launch of their new pilot food concept Thrive, a student-driven dining program that focuses on nutrition, social interaction, personal growth, health and wellbeing, physical environment, recognition, and ease and efficiency.

Thrive was created to help schools advance their vision and education objectives while providing their students with a comprehensive solution that supports their overall quality of life. By working closely with students, SodexoMagic ensures that each school's unique needs and goals are met through the program's design, menu, and supporting programming.

Vice President of Community Engagement at SodexoMagic, Robbi Stiell, spoke about the importance of the Thrive program. "At SodexoMagic, we believe that healthy students are better learners. Thrive provides a unique opportunity for us to collaborate with schools and students to create a comprehensive dining program that supports their overall well-being and academic success. We are excited to be a part of this initiative and to work closely with DC Public Schools to ensure that they are getting the most out of the program."

Thrive directly supports six dimensions of quality of life:

  • Social interaction with peers, adults, and community
  • Personal growth to achieve goals, hopes, and dreams
  • Health and well-being through diet, exercise, and education
  • Physical environment that’s safe, positive, and fun
  • Recognition to spotlight personal and group achievement
  • Ease and efficiency to help navigate each day smoothly

Currently, Thrive is available at Columbia Heights Education Campus, Cardozo Education Campus, and Kimball Elementary School. The program will be launching at Ballou High School and Anacostia High School in late March.
