Autonomous Delivery Robots to Dispense PPE Supplies at Lucas Oil Stadium Pilot Program on March 29-30

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Starship Technologies, the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, is teaming up with Centerplate — a Sodexo company and the leading hospitality partner to North America’s premier sports entertainment venues — to provide contactless deliveries to fans at college basketball’s biggest event. The deliveries will take place within Lucas Oil Stadium’s premium spaces from March 29-30 during the quarterfinal games.

Starship robots have been providing contactless on-demand food delivery on college campuses since January 2019, when the company first partnered with Sodexo to launch the service at George Mason University. Starship now provides this autonomous service to multiple college campuses across the country. Contactless delivery has become one of the most reliable ways for colleges to keep students safe and to enable social distancing during the pandemic.

Starship and Sodexo want to give fans a firsthand look at the type of service college students across the country are using, while also making social distancing easier during the games. The robots will be providing free PPE supplies to the suite level.

Ryan Tuohy, SVP Business Development at Starship Technologies said:

“Starship robots have been a big hit on college campuses. The students treat them as another mascot and love the convenience they offer. I think college sports fans will have fun seeing these robots in action.”

Steve Pangburn, CEO, Centerplate / Sodexo Sports & Leisure said:

“We have several heightened safety protocols in place to protect everyone at Lucas Oil Stadium this year. Since the Starship robots are such a popular feature on campuses, we are pleased to think outside the box and bring this innovative, contactless solution to one of college sports’ biggest events of the year.”

Starship Technologies operates commercially on a daily basis around the world. Its zero-emission robots have completed more than one million commercial deliveries, have travelled millions of miles and make more than 50,000 road crossings every day.
