Thanking Nurses During National Nurses Week 2020

  • They provide oxygen, facilitate births, and stop hemorrhaging. They administer medicine, counsel patients, and coordinate care. They lend an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and a hand to hold. During COVID-19, they’re finding creative ways for families to say goodbye and congratulations to their loved ones, virtually.

They care for people and a patient’s entire needs — a role that is essential during a national pandemic and every day.

Every May 6-12, the nation celebrates National Nurses Week in order to recognize the significant impact nurses make on their communities every single day.

This year, designated “The Year of the Nurse and Midwife” by the World Health Organization, National Nurses Week holds extra importance. Amidst the uncertainty and anxiety of the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses deserve a salute for the critical contributions they’re making on the frontlines.

At Sodexo, we extend our sincere gratitude to the nurses who are essential to fighting our world health crisis. It goes without saying — and is certainly worth saying — we could not do this without you.

As many Americans shelter at home, we’re finding ways to thank frontline heroes, such as tying white or blue ribbons around trees, clapping at designated times from our front yards and balconies, and even participating in singalongs and light shows from high-rises.

These acts of gratitude reveal the sheer impact nurses have on not just their patients, but every American.

Fighting this pandemic is a marathon — not a sprint — and nurses need every bit of support available to them as they carry the nation through this trying time.

Our teams always celebrate and support nurses. Right now, we’re in awe. Your friends in environmental services, foodservice, and nutrition are doing our best so you can perform at your best.

THANK YOU for your commitment to saving lives and helping our nation make it through this pandemic, together.
