Driven by Precision, Powered by Purpose: Inside the World of HTM at Sodexo

Explore the vital role our Healthcare Technology Management professionals play in ensuring patient safety and repairing life-saving medical equipment.
Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professionals play a critical role in keeping hospitals running safely and efficiently. They are the experts behind the scenes who manage and maintain the medical equipment doctors, nurses, and patients rely on every day. From diagnostics to life-support systems, their work ensures that care is delivered with precision and safety.
Let’s hear from a few of our team members in the HTM field as they share what brought them to this career, what drives their passion, and why their work matters.
Meet Biomedical Supervisor Marisol Santa

Marisol is a Biomedical Supervisor at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in New Jersey, where she leads a team responsible for maintaining the medical equipment healthcare providers depend on every day. She began her journey in HTM at Sodexo in 2001, after discovering the field while studying electronics. The idea that she could apply her skills to repair life-saving equipment, a career she hadn’t known existed, sparked a passion that guided her ever since.
Starting out as a Biomedical 1, Marisol began working with entry-level equipment, such as infusion pumps, and gradually advanced to more complex systems, including anesthesia and ultrasound machines. Her commitment to growth and giving back led her to pursue leadership positions, where she could share her expertise and mentor the next generation of technicians.
“I love to teach and mentor others because I truly care about the future of this field and want to share my passion,” Marisol explains.
With 24 years of experience at Sodexo, Marisol oversees operations across two hospital campuses. Her responsibilities include managing work orders, ensuring equipment is operating safely, and cross training her team so they’re prepared for a wide range of challenges. This approach fosters a culture of trust, adaptability, and continuous development.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Marisol also understands the importance of representation and resilience.
“Never let anyone discourage you. Be confident, show your education, and never give up,” she advises.
Meet Senior Area Manager Riad Farah

Riad is a Senior Area Manager at Sodexo, overseeing seven hospitals across Maine, Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts. Since joining Sodexo in October 2021, he has leveraged his 30 years of international experience in HTM to help strengthen accounts and improve operations. His background in biomedical engineering and diverse work history provides him with a unique perspective on tackling challenges within the HTM field.
In his role, Riad is responsible for assessing the condition of equipment, identifying risks, and developing recovery plans to restore financial stability. One notable achievement was leading his team to successfully improve the financial health of multiple underperforming hospitals by focusing on equipment risk assessments and implementing recovery strategies.
“I can’t do anything without my team,” Riad says. “The best solutions come from collaboration, and that’s what makes us successful.”
This collaborative approach, along with his commitment to continuous learning and development, drives both his success and the success of his teams.
Why HTM Matters
HTM is a field built on precision, responsibility, and trust. At Sodexo, we recognize the essential role our HTM professionals play in ensuring that medical equipment is safe, reliable, and ready when it matters most.
“This field isn’t just about fixing equipment; it’s about protecting lives. When people come in and use these machines, the machines are responsible for someone's life. It’s our job to ensure every device functions properly, because lives depend on it,” Marisol shares.
