  • Honoring Healthcare Heroes during National Hospital Week

In one room, a baby takes its first breath. In another, a patient undergoes a life-saving surgery. In yet another, a visitor holds the hands of a loved one as they say their final goodbyes.

In the celebratory times and the challenging ones, hospitals stand with open arms, ready to support their communities in promoting healing and fostering hope. From May 10 - 16, the country celebrates National Hospital Week in order to recognize the integral role every hospital plays in keeping the nation healthy.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this week of recognition is more important than ever, as hospitals remain front and center in helping the nation persevere through this trying time.

From balloons to celebrate the birthday of a patient in isolation to using FaceTime to connect loved ones from afar, hospitals are continuously finding innovative ways to support the needs of communities during this pandemic.

This year, National Hospital Week takes the form of “A Week of Thanks,” encouraging people to honor hospitals from the comfort — and safety — of their own homes. From “Send-a-Meal Monday” to “Share the Love Saturday,” people around the country are finding ways to express gratitude for their healthcare heroes, one meal or sidewalk chalk masterpiece at a time.

At Sodexo, we are proud to partner with hospitals that are critical in carrying the nation through this pandemic. As healthcare workers walk bravely through hospital doors to care for patients, our team members work hard to provide them with nutritious food to fuel their bodies and clean environments to keep them safe.

During this pandemic and every day, we are honored to call hospitals our partners in healing. We sincerely thank you for providing hope and healing for the country when we need it most.
