Newly signed contract will see the exclusive catering partner bring new dining concepts to life

CHICAGO, Ill. & GAITHERSBURG, Md. (August 11, 2020) – Sodexo, a leading food service and facilities management company committed to improving Quality of Life, today announced that it has renewed its food and beverage contract in a multi-year agreement with Chicago’s renowned Museum of Science and Industry. The agreement will see Sodexo continue to provide a best-in-class guest experience for the Museum, and an authentic array of local Chicago cuisine.

"We have partnered with Sodexo since 2002, and know they are committed to providing fresh, healthy food and industry leading sustainable practices for our guests," said Brad Schiever, Director of Retail and Guest services for MSI. “The onsite team does a fantastic job of event planning and delivering on their plans. We look forward to a bright future together, as we continue to deliver memorable experiences that are good for people and the planet."

As part of the agreement, Sodexo will work with MSI to remodel the Brain Food Court and Museum Café, bringing in popular local partners and enhancing in-house concepts as well. There will also be a new food outlet in the Henry Crown Space Center and a new outdoor terrace in the Smart Home Park, along with a mix of exciting new sustainability initiatives. Sodexo has also curated a Chicago Culinary Council, which is a mix of iconic local culinary figures who will help bring the new concepts to life. These renowned names will be revealed in the near future.

"We are thrilled to continue our valued partnership with MSI, who is at the forefront of inspiring the next generation in the areas of science and innovation,” added Steve Pangburn, Chief Executive Officer, Sodexo Sports & Leisure. "More than just the food offerings, we are committed to calibrating a level of hospitality that resonates with all guests who join us at this world-class, one of a kind, museum experience.”

Whether dining beside a World War II German U-boat, standing inside a 40-foot tornado or mingling below a historic aircraft, MSI is the largest science museum in the Western hemisphere and is housed in the only remaining structure from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. With thousands of exhibits, artifacts and “awe” moments that last a lifetime, MSI is the premier destination for unique and engaging special events – the venue has events down to a “science.”

Sodexo Sports & Leisure is a premier provider to cultural destinations and event venues around the world and in the United States, including the World War II Museum in New Orleans, the Seattle Aquarium, the famed Hollywood Bowl and The Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower.
