#IWD: A Time to Celebrate and Push Forward

  • International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the advancement of women through the world and to reflect on the opportunities ahead.

We at Sodexo are proud of our leadership on gender equity in the workplace -- including our many recognitions in the area, the most recent from NAFE, and through our research on gender-balanced management. (If you haven’t seen our ground-breaking study, it’s a must-read.)

We also know that gender equity in the workplace is not yet realized; to achieve it takes continued resources and commitment. We have both.

For instance, this year, Sodexo is supporting our job-shadowing program called SHEWorks. The program pairs women from underserved communities with Sodexo “host” managers, who share insights into the business and guidance on career opportunities.

We also continue to push forward in meeting our global commitments to reach 40 percent women among senior leaders by 2025. To do so, we are supporting women at every level of the organization, from Chairwomen of the Board, Sophie Bellon, to the new president of SodexoMAGIC, Selena Cuffe, to Centerplate’s Executive Chef Dayanny de la Cruz, who just hosted the Super Bowl at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, to the many women on our front lines like registered dietician, Nicole Roach, who through hard-work, expertise and talent improve the quality of life of customers all over the world.

We see the benefits of gender parity in every facet of our business. With gender-balance, we see more employee engagement, more customer satisfaction and more client retention. And, we see it in the new insights, perspectives and innovations that come when all people feel welcomed and valued in the workplace.
