Sodexo supports the solutions to reduce food loss and waste in the US Food Loss & Waste Policy Action Plan For Congress & the Administration.

The cross-sector and multi-system approaches—proposed by WWF, ReFED, NRDC, and Harvard Law School’s Food Law and Policy Clinic— will accelerate food loss and waste reduction efforts nationwide. We support the concepts proposed to grow composting infrastructure, enable surplus food donation, educate consumers, and standardize date labels.

In 2019, we committed to reduce food waste by 50% by 2025 and we have implemented systems to support our chefs, managers, and kitchen staff to cut waste. Our ambition is to feed more people healthier foods that fight climate change while supporting females and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities who are disproportionality impacted by these challenges.

“Sodexo is an advocate and practitioner of food waste reduction,” said Brett Ladd, CEO of Government and Universities at Sodexo North America. “Working with our partners across the food system, we can unlock the solutions to food waste.”
