DENVER, Colo. (July 13, 2021) – Centerplate, a Sodexo company and the leading hospitality partner to North America's premier sports entertainment venues, today completed hosting the PLAY BALL PARK at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center. The family-friendly baseball “wonderland” provided something for every fan to enjoy, and Centerplate chefs – led by Executive Chef Kayley Boyle – made an array of team-themed specialties to mark the occasion.

The event was slated to attract more than 100,000 fans to the venue, which featured more than 400,000 square feet indoors and nearly 200,000 around the convention center.

One crowd favorite, the Bambino Melt, featured an Impossible Burger served with American cheese, caramelized onions, housemade pickles, fried avocado slices on toasted bread.

Among the other baseball-specific menu items were:

  • The Green Monster (Fenway Park, Boston, MA) – Hot Dog topped with Sam Adams braised peppers, onions and sliced banana peppers served on a toasted brioche bun

  • Tiger Poutine (Comerica Park, Detroit, MI) – crispy curly fries topped, with shaved gyro meat, housemade tzatziki sauce, sauteed red onions and crumbled feta cheese

  • The Chop Sandwich (Truist Park, Atlanta, GA) – open face crispy pork chop sandwich, topped with braised collard greens, blanco BBQ Sauce and topped with crispy shallots

  • The Dinger (Coors Field, Denver, CO) – Pulled BBQ Colorado Lamb sandwich, served with a bing cherry green chili jam, served on a toasted Aspen Bakery bun

“It’s great to see our own all-star team put in the work this week to host baseball fans from all over the globe,” said Executive Chef Kayley Boyle. “We enjoyed thinking up the creative menu items and providing a safe, memorable addition to the Midsummer Classic experience.”

The free, open-to-the-public indoor and outdoor event attracted fans of all ages from July 9th – 13th, ahead of the MLB’s All-Star Game being played tonight. Each day was filled with fun, including giveaways, autograph opportunities, learning how to “play ball” from the best in the game, and much more.
