The Culinary MVP for the Big Game

  • Fans heading to Miami for the Super Bowl LIV this weekend are in for an extravaganza. One that doesn’t have anything to do with football or Shakira.

They’ll be treated to a culinary tour by the renowned Executive Chef at Hard Rock Stadium, Dayanny de la Cruz.

Centerplate’s Chef Dayanny happens to be the first female chef to host the Super Bowl, but that’s not what she thinks will be special about the night. “It should be special because we’re in Miami,” she says of her role overseeing 25 concession stands, 167 suites and seven restaurants. “It should be special because I’m able to touch guests in a different way because of where I come from.”

Chef Dayanny was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, a background that has influenced her cooking and is also part of the cultural tapestry that makes Miami unique.

Part of her role, as she sees it, is to bring the diversity of the city into the stadium.

From Cubano sausage to empanadas to short ribs and lobster tails, Chef Dayanny and her team have created a bespoke menu that’s homage to the city, the teams playing and the spectacle that is the Super Bowl.

Learn more about Chef Dayanny’s journey, her preparations for this weekend and what runs through her mind when she thinks about the honor of taking care of fans on the biggest night in sports, (spoiler alert: Her mother would be proud.)
