Sodexo Live! Announces Multi-Year Extension for Hospitality Services With the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority
Reimagined food and beverage offerings to extend to Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Winter World University Games
LAKE PLACID, Ny. – Sodexo Live!, hospitality partner to the world’s most iconic venues, today announced a multi-year extension with the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), and a new relationship with Mt Van Hoevenberg. The Sodexo Live! team, led by Senior Vice President Jeff Tandberg and Regional Executive Chef George McClain, will provide reimagined, best-in-class hospitality and elevated après-ski culinary experiences in one of the world’s most sought-after regions for snow sports and recreation.
As we have modernized and built new restaurants, Sodexo Live! has strived to exceed guest expectations, said Michael Pratt, President & CEO, ORDA. They have been a valuable partner as purveyors to hire and train hospitality professionals and deliver memorable dining experiences. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership to elevate the experience at Mt Van Hoevenberg and take our hospitality services to the next level across our venues.
Originally created by the State of New York to manage the facilities used during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games at Lake Placid, ORDA operates the newly branded Lake Placid Legacy Sites including Mt Van Hoevenberg, Whiteface, Olympic Center and the Olympic Jumping Complex. These are the competitive venues where the world’s attention was focused during the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Games, and they’re all newly modernized following major investments and renovations.
Additionally, ORDA is comprised of Gore Mountain and Belleayre Mountain, as well as the newly updated and LEED Gold Certified Lake Placid Conference Center, where Sodexo Live! culinarians, bartenders and servers will provide updated offerings for events, business meetings, weddings, corporate retreats and more.
For nearly 30 years we’ve partnered with ORDA to put forth a hospitality experience that is aligned with the world-class ski and snow sports they offer, said Sal Ferrulo, Executive Vice President, Sodexo Live! North America. We are thrilled to add Mt Van Hoevenberg to our network and cement this relationship with ORDA for years to come, as we double down on creating magical winter memories for local residents and out-of-state visitors alike.
In a few short weeks, this January 2023, ORDA will host events for the Lake Placid Winter World University Games. The University Games will be played over 11 days, will offer 12 sports to compete in and will welcome over 600 universities from 50 countries. Sodexo Live!’s global influence and expertise will provide best-in-class food and beverage to visitors from around the world over the course of the activation.
The entire Lake Placid region is dedicated to hosting events. As one of the few two-time Olympic host cities in the world, and home to the oldest continual Ironman event in the continental U.S., Lake Placid has an experience to offer for everyone.
