The pandemic lockdowns of 2020 impacted more than just the spread of Covid-19. From global economic shifts to the normalization of working and learning remotely, communities around the world are still managing the aftermath of the global pandemic. In the higher-education landscape, many students have adopted a new culture of isolation as a result.

More and more of today’s college students share a transactional view of their education, and many express disinterest in learning on campus, engaging in campus activities, and connecting with their peers. However, today’s administrators want to change that.

To reinvigorate the pre-pandemic collaborative culture of higher education, some institutions are rethinking the traditional college campus and investing in more engaging student-centered recreation centers, dormitories, and cafeterias.
