Sodexo, Tulane University Athletics, and Coca-Cola Partner to Prioritize Sustainability
NEW ORLEANS, La. (September 5, 2023) – Sodexo, a leader in quality, multichannel, and flexible food experiences, announced today the company’s strengthened commitment to game-day sustainability through its partnership with Tulane University Athletics, The Coca-Cola Company, and local bottler, Coca-Cola Bottling Company United. Building on waste reduction commitments across campus, Sodexo, Tulane Athletics, and Coca-Cola will reward fans who are “caught” recycling during the September 9, 2023 Tulane Green Wave football game against the University of Mississippi. The engagement and awareness-raising activity will occur at Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium and be led by volunteers for Tulane’s Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate.
“Sustainability is a core pillar for both Tulane University and Tulane Dining Services,” Wesley Turnage, General Manager, Tulane Dining Services said. “Getting Caught Green Handed” allows us to put action behind those beliefs and has proved to be a great way to further that mission while getting our fans involved as well. We love this promotion.”
Sustainability volunteers will distribute 60 concession stand vouchers to fans who are "caught" actively recycling during the first half of the game. Sodexo has previously partnered with Coca Cola on Get Caught Green-Handed events at Arizona State University (ASU), which have proven to be successful in diverting waste. Tulane University, a Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate campus, Sodexo, and Coca-Cola are excited to partner together to increase the awareness of recycling at athletic events. #KeepOurWaveGreen.
“We at Coke United are proud to partner with Tulane University and Sodexo around all sustainability programs. The Coca-Cola Company continues to make advancements in the recyclability of our packaging and products. Our bottles are made to be remade, so we are excited to work with Tulane University and Sodexo to get every bottle back. Sustainability is embedded in our organization, and we are delighted that it continues to be top of mind among all Green Wave fans.” Rocky Weigand, Gulf States Division Director, Coca Cola United.
