Centerplate Kicks Off 2019 College Football Season in Style

Hospitality provider debuts new enhancements for the fan experience

STAMFORD, Conn. (Sept. 5, 2019) – As the college football season continues this weekend, Centerplate, hospitality partner to North America's premier sports stadiums, convention centers and entertainment venues, announced today a series of new menu concepts, facility improvements and environmental initiatives at its partner stadiums.

Centerplate has unveiled new upgrades and locally inspired menu items that are sure to be a hit with home fans and visiting guests alike. Over the offseason, Centerplate gathered extensive guest feedback and conducted a series of strategic planning sessions in preparation of serving millions of fans this season.

Centerplate's partnerships include schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big 12 Conference, Mountain West Conference and Southeastern Conference.

"Our network of chefs and service professionals around the nation collaborate throughout the year to brainstorm and share concepts," said Centerplate Executive Vice President Sal Ferrulo. "We're especially excited to welcome this year's college football season, as we have a few more home openers kicking off this weekend. Centerplate is poised to bring fans an extraordinary experience this fall."

The latest enhancements reflect a diverse set of solutions, including:

Ole Miss (The University of Mississippi)

  • Fresh hand-tossed, brick-oven pizza from renowned local hotspot Fergndan’s Wood Fired Pizza sold in sections A and L and fired up right in front of fans.
  • Double Doozies, cookie cake slices and ice cream will be sold in sections S7, D and L from Great American Cookies and Marble Slab Creamery.
  • A made-to-order Burger Me stand with new self-serve kiosk technology, located in section B. Fans can fully customize their burger, from buns to toppings.
  • Chop’s Tot-cho’s, served on a bed of tater tots and topped with nacho cheese, BBQ sauce and jalapeños, located in section C.
  • Tony’s Grab and Go: A new convenience store layout featuring an expanded menu of drinks, snacks and Healthy Rebel items. Located in section S1.
  • Centerplate will work with Ole Miss to facilitate he sale of beer in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the final three home football games of the 2019 season, starting October 19 for the game against Texas A&M.

Kansas University

  • As Kansas Athletics’ official food and beverage partner, Centerplate will offer new Cheeseburger Rollers and Chicken Rollers.
  • KU also becomes the sixth Big 12 member to begin the sale of beer and wine on gameday. The following will be available for purchase in 2019: Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Goose Island IPA, Bon & Viv Spiked Seltzer, Cabernet Sauvignon red wine, Chardonnay white wine. Additional options will be available for purchase.

Virginia Tech

  • The new Enter Sand-Wich pays homage to the Hokie’s famous entrance into Lane Stadium, along with a new jumbo Turkey Leg, BBQ Pork Nachos, a Lunch Pail Loaded Pretzel and veggie burgers for more healthy fare.

University of Hawaii

  • New menu options abound this season, including polish sausages, angus cheeseburgers, ribs, poke bowls, and more.
