Technology + Pizza = Delicious

  • Now, here’s a tech breakthrough to get excited about … a pizza-making robot. And it can make up to 300 customized pizzas an hour.

When the robot - designed by Seattle-based start-up Picnic - served its pizza at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it proved it can deliver the goods.

One reviewer declared “Picnic's CES pizza slice isn’t just great for a convention center, it would be considered delicious anywhere.”

Centerplate, the exclusive hospitality partner to the Las Vegas Convention Center, initially debuted the robot at T-Mobile Park for the Mariners’ season.

“We always seek to be on the cutting edge, when it comes to AI, robotics and identifying new technological solutions that enable us to provide a better experience for our fans,” said Adrian Dishington, Senior Vice President, Centerplate.

For CES, which drew more than 200,000 people this year, the high tech, high-volume event was the perfect introduction to the convention center market.

The robot works by reading the size and shape of the dough and pushing it through a conveyor belt where sauce, cheese and toppings are added and then transferring it to an oven.
